Recommended For:
College Readiness Social Science Teachers
Pre-AP® Social Science Teachers
Pre-AP® U.S. History Teachers
(Grades 8-11)

Time:
6 hours (1 Day Workshop)

Overview:
How did we get here? History is all about learning from the past, understanding our present and guiding our futures. Let’s empower our students with the tools they need to successfully navigate their futures, and give them a solid foundation to guide them through their State Core Standard Required education needs. In this workshop, we will focus on teaching the content required by the State Core Standards, and will also instruct teachers how to use the Inquiry Design Model (IDM) to further student learning.

Learning Objectives

Participants Will:

● Analyze the different explanations for the Great Depression and how the New Deal fundamentally altered the relationship between the Federal Government and the American people, and
● Learn to create and teach an Inquiry Design Model (IDM) to help students engage with a topic in a History or Social Studies class that would provide them with research skills, organizational skills, analysis, and evaluation skills to prepare them for Honors or AP® courses.
