Examining research-based instructional strategies to effectively promote writing for English Language Learners (ELL)

This interactive workshop will provide research-based strategies, structures, resources and skill development to increase ELL teachers understanding of effective writing instruction for ELLs. Strategies include, but are not limited to: building effective writing skills based on existing background knowledge; Examining ELL strategies that encourage daily writing; examining sentence structures (Syntax); assisting students to explore topic selection, development and discussion; construction paragraphs; examining structures that promote group work; developing skills for ELLS to write with partners, and examining writing styles: formal vs informal.
